On April 17, 2018, in McHenry County, as part of our second annual Sexual Assault Prevention Week, we had the opportunity to train over 350 new Allies to assist in preventing sexual violence! We offered two trainings at McHenry County College, the first of which was our standard Break the Silence Bystander Intervention Training, and the second of which focused on youth topics, like how to talk to your kids about boundaries and consent.
We were so, so impressed and inspired by working with the organizer of this McHenry training, Alexandra Eesley. Her passion and enthusiasm for Break the Silence catalyzed an unprecedented outpouring of support from individual allies, businesses and media in her community, including Stew Cohen from Star 105.5, who promoted the event for on his radio show for weeks leading up to the training!
